Year-Round Academic Tutoring Program
Far from the typical tutoring program, our state-certified teachers provide 1:1 instruction tailored for the unique needs of the neurodivergent learner. Our dynamic approach includes instruction that is direct and explicit, engaging, and most importantly, FUN! Whether your learner needs help with:
-
homework,
-
keeping their schoolwork and assignments organized,
-
math,
-
homeschooling or
-
is a developing reader/writer,
we are here to support their unique style of learning. Our mission is to create lifelong learners and we believe that going the extra mile to develop meaningful connections with our scholars is an essential component to academic success.
What Makes Us Unique?
-
All of our tutors are state-certified, licensed special and/or general education teachers of Virginia, most with additional certifications in related specialty areas such as autism and dyslexia.
-
We have a certified Wilson Reading System (Orton-Gillingham approach) provider and an EBLI Certified Instructor (speech-to-print), allowing us to offer a flexible approach to teaching reading. This ensures we can tailor instruction to each student’s learning style, including those with neurodivergent needs. We firmly believe that teaching the way they learn is the pathway to success and we have the flexibility to pivot to a different curriculum, teaching approach, or additional supports when necessary.
-
We are highly trained and experienced in serving learners with and without common learning differences such as: dyslexia, autism, anxiety, SPD (sensory processing disorder), and ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), while maintaining a neurodiversity-affirming environment.
-
We offer flexible schedules for busy families and homeschoolers including a virtual tutoring option.
-
We offer tutoring services to learners from ages 6 through adulthood.
-
Our teachers make it priority to work closely with families to help promote consistency and open communication across learning environments.

PLEASE NOTE: Prior to the first day of attending a session, Inside Out Learners must complete a normative assessment to develop a specialized plan that meets your child's individual needs. This intake process requires about 1 hour and involves a combination of assessing the child and consulting with the primary caretaker. Please e-mail terrie@insideoutlearners.com or call the office to schedule the assessment.
