Teeny-Tweeny Book Club

An in-person program just for our teen and tween girls ages 10-14, this is a book club like no other! We will assign specific chapters/pages to read before the next meeting to have lively discussions about the current book, play thematic games/activities, and enjoy snacks. Common goals for this group are to:

  • learn more and appreciate the differently-wired brain,
  • have an opportunity to develop friendships with neurodivergent thinkers,
  • spend time with other girls who "get it", and most of all,
  • HAVE FUN!!

At the first meeting for each book, participants get to know each other through fun activities. A group vote is made on what book to read from a selection of pre-determined books. Once a book has been chosen by the club, a link to order it would be sent to the parent. Books include a character(s) with a differently wired brain and may be of various genres. Some examples include:

  • Fish in a Tree, by Lynda Hunt
  • Planet Earth is Blue, by Nicole Panteleakos
  • Get a Grip, Vivey Cohen! by Sarah Kapit
  • Can You See Me? by Libby Scott & Rebecca Wescott
  • The Leap Cycle (book series) by Patience Agbabi
  • Tornado Brain, by Cat Patrick

It takes 6-8 weeks to complete each book with their discussions and activities. We typically have 4-6 participants for each book the club reads and they take turns bringing a snack to share. A drink is provide by Inside Out Learners.

Interested book clubbers may register below and we will contact you for confirmation with dates and time. Due to limited space, we will need to ensure that we still have an opening for your reader. Please register readers who are able to make the weekly commitment and have reliable transportation to and from Inside Out Learners. A minimum reading level of 3rd grade is highly recommended to fully engage in the enriched learning experiences. Maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for our tween/teen girls is a priority and therefore, any member who displays disrespectful behavior will not be allowed to participate.

New book club sessions will be announced soon, but let us know you are interested by submitting the form below!
