At Inside Out Learners, we think of social decoding as learning to better understand the many ways people communicate, connect, and experience the world. Our approach is neurodiversity-affirming and informed by the lived experiences and perspectives of neurodivergent people. Rather than teaching learners to imitate a single “right” way to socialize, we create engaging activities that encourage curiosity, self-understanding, communication, and authentic connection.

Topics may include:​​

• making sense of our emotions

• starting, continuing & ending conversations

Our curriculum avoids traditional “social skills training” approaches that emphasize masking or conformity. Instead, it focuses on genuine understanding, effective communication strategies, and building authentic relationships while honoring neurodivergent communication styles.

Group dynamics, age ranges, and individual needs are all important considerations when creating Social Decoding groups. Inside Out Learners offers small-group sessions that meet for 55 minutes each week. To support meaningful interaction and a positive group experience, a minimum of four participants is required for a group to run.

Before joining a group, each learner will complete a 30–45 minute Social Decoding Intake Interview. This gives us an opportunity to learn more about the individual, their interests and needs, and which group may be the best fit. The intake fee is $150, and an invoice will be sent prior to the appointment.

• Mondays at 5:00 pm (grades 1st - 3rd)

• Wednesdays at 5:00 pm (grades 3rd - 5th)

Secondary Grade Levels

• Mondays at 5:00 pm- Middle AND High School (grades 6th - 12th)
