A Neuroaffirming Book Club for LGBTQ+ Families & Allies
Weeks of March 23rd – June 1st, 2026
Hosted on Zoom · Facilitated by Inside Out Learners
This program is completely free - Zoom link will be provided upon registration.
Whether your loved one is a member of the LGBTQ+ community, this group offers a welcoming space to learn, reflect, and grow in your allyship journey. Queerious Minds is a 10-week virtual book club for parents, caregivers, partners, and allies of transgender and gender-expansive people of all ages — with a neurodiversity-affirming foundation.
Together, we’ll read The Risk It Takes to Bloom by Raquel Willis — A passionate, powerful memoir by a trailblazing Black transgender activist, tracing her life of transformation and her work towards collective liberation.
You don’t need prior knowledge about the topics — just curiosity, openness, and the desire to grow in community.
💙 Neuroaffirming & Inclusive
We honor different brains and bodies. This space welcomes all communication styles and processing needs — stimming, pausing, using chat instead of speaking, or keeping your camera off are all completely okay. Closed captions may be enabled, and pacing will be flexible.
We also acknowledge the significant overlap between autistic and transgender identities, and strive to create a space where neurodivergent and gender-diverse experiences are celebrated, not pathologized.
📘 What We’re Reading
The Risk It Takes to Bloom is available in paperback, hardcover, audiobook, and eBook formats. You can find it at local bookstores, libraries, Bookshop.org, Audible, or Amazon.

Author, activist, and media strategist, Raquel Willis is one of TIME magazine's 2025 WOMEN OF THE YEAR.
WINNER of the LGBTQ+ Nonfiction, 2024 Best Book Awards
